Clutch pedal travel can be altered using a adjuster nut behind the pedal on the post that goes into the master cylinder, easy job. Clutch could just need bleeding. Make sure its not slipping though  Ste

don't worry about the timing belt on the 2.0 sport, if it snapped you just coast to a stop, it does no damage to the engine
check for rust inside the back wheel arches around where the roll bar sits as the rear seat belts depend on it the engine in the sports is good for high miles and is pretty much bullet proof personally i'd check for too much play in the back bearings either up and down or in and out as i hear they are a pig to do (front bearings are very easy) and check 4wd works, with no strange noises from the front diff Phil, member of http://www.northtyne4x4.com and http://www.4x4responsenortheast.co.uk
