I had a great day, my first attempt at a recovery, towing Dan out of the gloopy stuff only for him to get stuck again a little later.

Violets lane was the top of the bill, could have done with a little more water but still good fun.

Sorry I had to shoot off early and miss out on the pub stop but I developed a wobble on the steering at about 35 to 40 mph on the road section which started after the first lane and I was a little concerned with a 2 hour journey home on the dreaded M25.

I managed to limp home at around 50 mph any slower and the shake was really bad and over about 53 it came back with a vengeance, my eyesight was blurred when I got home.

Thanks again to Paul (Badboy) for organising today and all the other Foggers for making the day so enjoyable, hope to do it again soon :D :D

Classic mud throwing you balancing out
Once cleaned off your steering wobble should dissapear, unless you hit a big rock at speed

Cheers to Paul for organising a cracking days laning. Conditions top draw - nice day, sun shining and mud to drive through. Even had a few car wash areas to paddle through. Then to top it all, we had the legendary Violet Lane. Got to admit, I did think twice about doing this lane because the rubber gear lever gasket as not been fitted correctly since the transfer box rebuild. When we got there, it put into perspective the water drought that is evident in the eastern part of the country. Apparently Violet Lane is a the River Ash part waterway that is also a legal road. To start with, we were driving a dried up river bed, which quickly turned into a succession of reasonable water pools to negotiate. Gave the underneath and wheels a clean, which was definately required after the earlier mud lanes we drove. Got to admit, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the lanes on offer today.
Anyhow, had a good day clicking with the camera. I won't go through adding titles, but if you can make out the herd of deer in some of the piccies, the crys of 'Benson' did go up. In the last few pics showing Dan stranded in the mud with his slicks on, the quality of mud deffo had a thick gluey substance which needed Paul's winch to get Dan out.

The cheapo vid camera was busy as well Greg, but I've hit a techno problem and can't get them to upload to youtube.
Going to ask the questions in the 'PC/technology' section to see if I can get any advice before I launch the bloody camera into the bin

Well I was gonna put a post up but Retro's says it all.
Great photo's Pete and I couldn't have done a better write up myself.

Will defo have to include Violets lane in the next day out, but I doubt that I will be able to organise one until after the annual now

Can't wait to see the special videos shot by Robfog who experimented with some interesting camera work  They should be special.

Hopefully Fudge can upload some of his photos soon too?????

None from me as my camera broke a few weeks ago. Only 1 short video which I will try to add later.

Thank you to all that came. I'm glad you enjoyed the day out, and hopefully you can make another later in the year

Nice vid Rob
Love the camera shot @ 14.55 and it includes all 1km of Violets Lane :D
Only Hippo could get stuck 3min into it (recovered @ 6.40ish by Wideformat). Did you get any footage of the second recovery with the winch?

Loved the lane @ 12.38 and the ford @ 14.00.

Must get another day out sorted to complete the lanes we had to miss out, and add the best ones from this day back into.
