As you have discovered the b*****d lane is about 40ish miles from corwen, happy valley another 6 or so.
It would be nice to do both as there is enough in the area for a whole day but recent inclement weather leaves me thinking b****d lane may need to dry out some. When its wet its a proper nightmare and I havent done it in over a year so dont really want to be taking people into a possible hell hole as there is absolutely no way you can convincingly reverse out.

There are several routes around pentrefoelas including s****y lane. always good for a bit of a bum clench and the locals tend to encourage you, or at least they did the last time we went there.

In all honesty though I havent travelled many of the lanes in a year or more and im just re-acquainting myself with them via MM. suffice to say if there are 4 groups there will be plenty.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

BadBoy wrote:A technical lane for trucks which are suitable and don't mind scratches would be nice too

It would be nice, however looking at the name list I fear that that group might be made up of all the group leaders, however if there is something near by to the campsite which could prove interesting, maybe a single trip with just the suitably modded trucks and everyone else riding shotgun could be made if time allows.

As long as that's where you stay while you have your trunks on

I'm sure someone said to me that the Pen Steps were open. They are certainly being used, just not sure it's still TRO'd or not.

The place is a quagmire and still has a huge hole that has to circumnavigated around, I think its shut but from what Ive been told its best avoided anyway, it can be dangerous in good conditions at the best of times if you get the steps wrong.

Would have to agree with that, nearly had a disco on its side there a few years ago, (in the dry) not a lane to be underestimated. Also know a lad who was stuck waist deep in the quag, had to walk to the nearby farm to get pulled out with a tractor. Shame it was a good lane at one time if you took it steady.
Someone mention laning? Just tell me when and where!

Odd as I know some one who did it less than 2 months ago. But if it's TRO'd it's academic anyway.

It was never TRO'd
CRAG put a voluntary restraint on it due to a large hole which has now been improved by a CRAG/Treadlightly team, but this has now expired, however as I understand it and like Drifty says it is still in a poor state and is best avoided to allow the lane to recover and also for safety reasons.

Personally, I have no wish to do it in it's current state and would ask that it is excluded from our weekend to show our support and respect for the lanes

It ain't going to recover with large groups of Landy's on it mate. :? Every weekend I see groups leading down there, and the guy who owns the house at the entrance to the lane owns a Fronty (I know him) and he was telling me that through the summer there have been groups coming down in the week as well

Before the lane was churned up I nearly rolled on it at the steps only for my mate Dave jumping out of his LR and hanging onto the side of my truck

This is it earlier in the year just before the steps, it wont be any better now, best avoided I reckon.

If you do take a walk down there Box, let us know what you find, I tend to avoid it these days and turn right onto splashy. Talking of scary lanes anyone driven V gulley lately? Another one I have always avoided due to the horror stories of the "sideways club"
