Byways - What if the're too small

Theres a public byway near me in Morbath(Devon) the sign says it is a public byway even the OS maps say its a public byway ,but you cant even get 2 pedestrians side by side up it.

I did try but just couldn't get through the little gap I was about 2 ft too wide

Remember many of these ancient lanes go back to way before motor vehicle, when drovers and herders used them.

Its not a resticted byway i have asked and there is no signs saying it is restricted

Surley if it was restricted then it would need signage to say it is restricted like this example

While asking these questions may seem silly, I'm just trying to understand the situation. The last thing I want to do is drive my Fronty somewhere I shouldn't, especially given our groups view on off piste driving and my car having fog stickers all over

I looked into the disabled side while back due to my wife been of limited mobility an there is groups that use the offroad version of mobility scooters an they take people out in a convoy of mobility scooters which seems funny to see a convoy of mobility scooter going throught the forest, but least there has been some consideration for disabled people.

Like Drift said. A lot of the byways date back to Roman times when there weren't that many frontys around..only Bernie

They will just be usable by motorbikes as the cars cannot fit if not restricted, if they6 cant fit they cant drive it
