Burton Dasset HillsI have found what appears to be a green lane on burton dasset hills. Running between the village of north end and the 2 parking areas. Can anyone confirm. Link here

Yes mate. I think i know where it is, u know between the dome building on the hill and the other parking lot. You can see tracks in that dip going towards a gate. I always thorght it was just a farm track and people being irresponsible with their 4x4s, but according to that map its a ORPA i.e green lane

I've waked the dog down there a fair few times, and there's no road coming up that side at all. Must be further over than that.

I do - its a left on the road that takes you to Avon Dassett P&P. I thank that's right before where the road tightens near a cattle grid.

I think your looking at the other one, which is a dead end. If you look closley mate u can see just below the P sign there are small red dots leading into the village of northend its self. It was this one i was refering to.

Slighty north of there we also come to this beauty
clicky This looks like fun to, place called ufton bout 5 miles west of leamington. Keep scrolling the map up, this one goes on forever. clicky The piasta de restance is this however. ORPA which turns into a BOAT looks long. Theres another small lane just south of the map as well. Not far from dasset. clicky

Notice how it changes status at a County Boundary Lawrene
To the left of the black dash/dotted line, the track is an ORP, to the right it is a BOAT. The black line is a county/ditrict border. This clearly shows that each district has, in the past, classified the aintient road with a different status.
This is why, especially in Wales, that be now have a lot of dead-end lanes: what were ORPA/RuPP's are now no longer drivable for their origonal length as part of them (thanks to NERCA) now are RB's which effectively means footpath. Lawrence
As i undertood it i thorght you could drive on ORPAs hence the name 'Other ROADS with PUBLIC ACCESS'. Key words being road and public access. Certainly in warwickshire I dont think any BOATS exist, all the green lanes ive seen are marked as ORPA and I have to hand it to warwiskshire CC they are all marked with white discs saying. As below.
I beleive they have taken the view to call all routes with veichular access rights a 'road' as opposed to a 'byway'. I know this can be confusing as I beleive not all councils way of doing things is the same, which adds to the muddying of the water of what is and what isnt legal to drive. Making it ambiguous just adds to the increased chance of a 'disagrement' with other users who thing they know better. TC

Re: Burton Dasset Hills
I know the Lane you Mean TC .. I've seen a couple of Landies go down from the CarPark and onto the Lane but they've always come back up to the Track between the Hill and Car Park... I haven't walked that bit all the Way down but it does appear to be travelled a lot by 4x4s !
