Indeed it was (although 270 miles round trip)

£2 to park your car (or park in the narrow road and walk). Bet bet would be to get there early morning so as to have the sun shine on it, as at 2pm it is in shadow - I had to "play" with that photo to make it work (HDR)
The trip to Aberystwyth took me past Lake Vrnwy - it would be rude not to stop and take a sunny photo:

And so onto Aberwystwyth. I had heard the Starlings gather to roost on the pier at certain times of the year, but did not know if this time was one of them. But, that was the idea of this trip. Driving along the A487 at 40mph, I was overtaken by a flock of about 20 Starlings - maybe this is the right time of the year.
Parking on the sea front if free (for 4 hours) but parking places were a little sparse - I had a bit of a walk back to the pier. Once there I befreinded an elderly couple who had a camera and partook of a little light conversation. The Starlings gathered:
