SORC - Punch Challenge

Postby Trugga on Sun Apr 18, 2010 4:29 pm

I should of been away marshalling this weekend, but a bout of chronic toothache put a stop to that idea on Friday. This morning (Sunday) the ache had conciderably subsided, so what to do - aha, Shropshire Off Road Club are running a Punch Challenge near Ironbridge - so off I trundle.

First things first - a coffee from the buttie wagon and then a chat to the organisers about running a TYRO for FOG (more on that here)

Then it was time for a walk into the woods...

For those that don't know, a Punch Challenge or Winch Challenge event consists of a number of punches (orienteering punches perhaps) that are scattered throughout some woodland. They are most likely tied to a tree. In your vehicle is a card, that is actually tied to the inside of the vehicle - you have to get your card to the punch to prove you've been there.

Some punches are easy and will score, say 20 points, while others will be hard and might perhaps earn 400 points

Unfortunately, there were only 3 competitors on this event as a number of other members were off in Derbyshire doing a championship event (perhaps if I had entered I might of finished 4th  )

Once again, realy friendly people, who were willing to chat about their trucks.
