Re: A Vulcan Bomber TributeSpeedbird, Any idea where the old girl is going to be based after 2011 when the runway losses it's licence? It'll be strange not to see it in the hanger on C site, sort of got used to it now.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: A Vulcan Bomber TributeAnd this government says its saving money
Info http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12297139 So that's £4 Billion spent on the planes that just need minor electrical issues sorted, and another £200m in compensation to BAE to scrap them yer 4.2 Billion thrown down the drain to save an over estimated £10 Billion over ten years, BUT they say they will cover the gap with other marine services surface and submarine also helicopters, but that not take the cost of the extra resources these new " cover services" will use over ten years and take that off the estimated £10 Billion over ten years the Nimrod would cost, it would outweigh the cost it has endured to scrap the planes, utter madness and uneconomic sense and that's not taking into consideration the nations safety and search and rescue capability. Re: A Vulcan Bomber TributeI know there are a few Fronty owners who like the Vulcan , there was a good article in the Sunday Express last week, about the use of the Vulcan in the Falklands Campaign.
Here are some of the things that they hope 558 will be involved in this year - as follows, 1 - the official unveiling of the Bomber Command Memorial in June, 2 - It will take part in the official unveiling of the Falklands memorial at the National Arboretum in May. 3 - And also a fly-over to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee. Re: A Vulcan Bomber TributeAnd as a continuation, the book Vulcan 607 which describes the whole Falklands bombing raid, is an amazing read.

Re: A Vulcan Bomber TributeDid you know Haynes (book of mis truths) also do a book on the Vulcan.
Re: A Vulcan Bomber Tribute
Yeah I brought a cheap copy of the book you mention in a charity shop a while back. Still not read it though, as I have been reading the book written by the pilot who ditched his aircraft in the Hudson river (a good read). I see the Sunday Express have got a special offer on at the moment - Vulcan 607 My Fronty thinks its a grown-up Tonka Toy [how sad is that] ?
