Computer woes

Postby brachunky on Sat Feb 23, 2008 9:44 pm

I am wondering if any other members on AOL have the problem of not being able to access photobucket & youtube :? This means I cant see any piccies on here which are hosted by these sites
A quick search on google found that there is a problem with AOL but it may affect other isps too.
For the record, I have:
Cleaned the registry and all folders of any junk.
Tried firefox & explorer(no difference)
rebooted router.

Suppose it will be a wait & see affair with AOL

Thank you Rich
In fairness to them, I have only had one short period of being offline in nearly 5 years, but I dont use their software at all, just direct access thru mozilla or explorer.

Back in the distant days of dial up I was with AOL for a year - generally unhappy with them so I stopped my direct debit and rang up to quit. I was offerred a free month - so I took it. Rang up again to quit and was offered a free month - so I took it. Rang up to quit and guess what - was offered a free month - so I took it. FIVE free months, before I finally terminated with AOL

Couple of weeks later, a bill for £200 lands on my mat. So I rang up and they said it was charges for the previous five months, as well as late payment charges - and it should be paid imeadiately or it would go to a collections agency

AOL - stands for - I wouldn't touch this company with your stick, let alone mine.

A few peeps ask me who would I recommend and my standard answer is 'anyone except AOL....'

Working in IT means I get to do IT Support for friends, family, neighbours, neighbours friends etc, only one is on AOL and guess who has the most broadband trouble

Well I must be the exeption to the rule then, originally started with BT on dial-up, then went to AOL coz they don't cap your downloads. Moved over to broadband, still with AOL, and have had NO problems whatsoever.

Only issue I had was with the router they sent me, but quickly solved and trouble free for at least 3-4 years (Broadband connection).

Most people seem to think AOL is crap, but I have nothing but praise for it. Though I don't use their browser, use IE7 for that.

Have no problems with Utube or similar

Just a bit of feedback :) In order to test AOL a bit & besides emailing thier tech team with a peeved off complaint :x , I downloaded both AOL's latest desktop browser and the new AOL 9vr software.
Guess what? Still could not get photobucket & youtube using the aol browser but could with their own software
I could also get pbucket etc going thru http://www.atunnel.com.
Last night I logged on with Mozilla only to find that all well's again suggesting that they did sommat after my complaint.
These guys obviously block certain sites at a whim and peeving off customers in the process.
Im on a 2mb uncapped service for £9.99pm. Are there any other uncapped deals you guys know of at a similar price?
Cheers
