Oil Leak..... Knew it was too good to be true .....

Postby Mackie on Mon Feb 18, 2008 1:12 pm

Right .....

Had the sump replaced at the weekend , thought this would stop the oil leak, however... it has stopped one of the leaks but I now find that I have a leak which appears to be coming from between the engine and gearbox (think this could be the crankshaft ?) My mechanic mate has said that provided I keep an eye on the oil it should not present too much of a problem , apparently it will be easier (ie cheaper on the labour) to have this done when the clutch needs doing as everything will be out of the way .....

Also,

Oil pressure gauge appeares to be permanently at the top (no other warnings though...)

Finally ....

10% of the time I will go to start it and the engine light will flash repeatedly (which obviously means I cannot start it up) if I remove the key and then retry it goes ....

Any ideas ?.

Sorry for the War & Peace novel above .......

the leak between the engine and g/box is the "rear crank seal" (quite a popular one that)

oil pressure ....make sure the wires are on and in good order (on the sender)
