only had to use 4wd once as well

fitted some AT's on 15's ready for the snow

Drove mine a total of 160 miles some on roads some on lane's and several hundred metres through water all with no mishaps.
Even used 4l and 4h on a couple of occasions

Had one of my new tyres put back on rim as I managed to remove it yesterday
And I only fitted them yesterday
Local garage put it back on for free

The frozen snow on the hard top thawed, then I noticed water dripping furiously from the panel catch - looks like the laminates in the hardtop are needing resealed.

Replaced the steering idler, centre bar thing and track rod ends tis all ready for it's MOT on Wednesday now.

Funnily enough after months of creaking coming from the steering, I had to have the steering idler replaced as well, it was proper seized up.

I got the sport started again run lovely for an engine that not been started in two months just a shame there is so much dirt , mud and gravel in places they shouldnt be cause it was making a right rasping sound from somewhere .

The door lock on lwb just suddenly came loose for no reason

painted my old silver steel rims hammerite black so theyre ready for a set of muddies [when i can afford some ]

MOT'd the truck yesterday, as per normal it sailed through so well chuffed with the result.

Sadly though it came away with 4 adviseries....

A loose headlamp (O/S) but that's only cos the tester pulled it a bit enthusiaticaly like...It went back in when he let go okay so I'm just leaving it.
A bit of movement on the front rubber bush on the N/S trailing arm, nothing to serious but I will be changing all the rear bushings come the summer.
A hole, about half the size of a 1/2 pence coin... rear N/S sill, on the bottom edge of the seam where it meets the wheel arch/rear panel. Again, a job for the summer and hopefully will be a good enough excuse to use for me to get a new mig welder without the OiC HF going off on one and letting me know I should have spent the dosh on summit usefull like food, as they do....
Front O/S rubber body mount showing signs of age..... stupid things are 16 years now, what's he expect ffs, spanky shiny new ones? I'll replace them in the summer and go on a diet so I don't wear out the new ones so quick....

New thermostat ... hitting that age old issue of Halfords stocking three different ones for the various 2.8's and 3.1's ... and another that you had to ask at the parts desk for.

Funny thing about it was the Trooper and Monterey 3.1 listed different part numbers for the same thing for the same truck/engine

Thing is the heater works fine but the temp gauge doesn't even register ... I think my viscous fan is fubarred and is constantly "on" .. this is a test really.

I got one of the ones on the right already drifty. I went through them all looking at the various different ones for Trooper 2.8, Trooper 3.1, Monterey 3.1, and Frontera 2.8.

Trooper 2.8 ... one part number 82 degrees .. looks like the one on the left.

Trooper 3.1 ... another part number 82 degrees ... looks like the one on the left.

Monterey 3.1 ... another part number 85 degrees ... looks like the one on the right.

Frontera 2.8 ... another part number ... dunno what it looks like as you had to order it from the parts desk ... useless muppets.

Funny thing is the one I took out had "89" on it and looked like the one on the right ... though a lot mankier.

Either way I got the 85 degrees one and will see what happens. If I have no joy I will clean up the old one and slap it back in. Annoying thing is the gasket was wrong even though the thermostat fitted so I made another one from a piece of cardboard.

As said its an experiment to see what is going on. Its one of a few things. Thermostat opening too soon, fan is on the fritz so turning constantly, or the temp sender is knackered so not sending the right temperature to the gauge.

The one in the picture (right) is a 3.1 85d thermostat but the spare I have looks the same and is the one from am MU think thats 82d

The left one is what halfords give out as a Trooper thermostat.
