Stops your steering from being slammed to the side quickly mate helps maintain a straighter line and prevents tramlining (your tyres following grooves in the road surface)

It just suppresses some of the steering input that comes from the wheels sooner than the steering wheel, and stops wheel wobble a bit when you hit small bumps with hooj offset rims. steering just works like normal as the damper is kinda extended/contracted relatively slowly, but the quicker jerks from the wheels are reduced.
Landcruisers and patrols have them as standard.

Like your dampers on a boot of a standard hatch back I guess.
I fit a steering damper to every motorcycle I own as you can get what's called a "tank slapper"

There you go...one of my old FJ60 landcruisers, if you look at the end of the yella arrow you will see the steering damper :wink:

Steering dampers were standard fit on range rovers, connected to a lug under the pinion flange and a welded bracket on the track rod. Some defenders had them too only they were connected to the drag link and a bracket bolted to the chassis.

Being a total sucker for punishment I decided to change my glow plugs this afternoon in the spare hour before hometime.
Finished at 8 oclock. What a pain in the bum,
They were so badly gunged up with carbon I had to leaver them out with a bar, All done now though and she seems to start alot better.
Another job off the list.

oil and filter changed , tow ball replaced with recovery hitch and electrics repositioned to stop off road damage :mrgreen:

also bled the clutch ( looks like the first time since the truck was new ) what a difference !!! :dance:

Alternater has gave up,and so have I :twisted:

For the sake of £30 second hannd one Jason...you know it makes sense, that thing has been dunked a good few times, I am on number 3 :lol:

started it for the first time in 5 days...then spent another 118+ a bit for 6months road tax..

It's shorted most of the electrics out on the truck (ECU)
Richards going to have a look at for me.

But I think it will be going on eBay on Tuesday as I have up to Here with it :twisted:
