Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Popped out this morning to fit the new top and bottom ball joints, along with new CV boots.
Took well over 4 hours to get the first side done, so the other side has to wait until tomorrow. Nothing wanted to come undone and as per what seems to be usual, the bottom ball joint was a right pig to split. Still, half way there ![]()
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!done my tapets, was going to use the rule of 9, but just caught them on the rock, a lot easyer,
removed bash plates, and found my oil leak was coming from the oil presure switch, flying solo, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yesterday I treated my truck to a pair of new pair of Good Year Wranglers on the front, and got the slow puncture fixed in the rear.
Took the fitters nearly an hour to get one of the front alloys off as it has corroded to the hub so badly Mind you from the MOT history it has ony done 16K miles in the last three years and as there was no repairs to the old tyre that came off, I presume the wheel hasn't been off in over three years ! Just dragged my eldest out in the drizzle to help bleed the clutch, as it was juddering like mad when pulling away, and after much swearing and bleeding, I can't get the bash plate under the bellhousing off to blead it all the way through Stiil, it is bled halfway, the fluid that came out was black with lumps in I think a few days of squirting with WD40, and another go at the weekend should finish the job.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Got both ball joints and the CV boot on the second side changed today.
Bottom ball joint split straight away this time - result. I did waste nearly an hour with the track rod end though. Nut was very stiff on the threads and before I had got it off, the joint seperated from the hub meaning that the ball joint turned when I tried to turn the nut. Tried everything to get it back onto the taper tight enough to move it, got there in the end. Another job off the list!!!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!well considered taking the fronty off the road for a while while all the works done on it. just got to fix the other car first

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Replaced the sump gasket...what a bugger to do with the engine still in the truck.....Why don't I ever think that a job would be easier if I took the engine out, until I've had a fight with it and finished?
One slight concern was that ammount of carbon deposits in the bottom of the sump (deffo not metal) and there seems to be a "whistling" sound coming from the oil pump or pick-up now...but pressure is good. (any thoughts?) hopefully there won't be a puddle of oil out the front tomorrow morning next job.....front discs and pads........but that will wait until the weekend (maybe) The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!My truck was put to work today (what it was bought for)and towed my poorly other car on trailer to Northampton Motorsport. Been putting this off for months as the Fronty hadn't been boosting on the turbo and was flat as a fart. Last time i towed with it just over a year ago, it was nothing but grief. Today pulled like a train, not once did the EML light come on. Even overtook at (legal!!)full chat going uphill on the A605. Sorted!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!well put the engine back together, and she is purring like a pussy cat,

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Took the alloys off my Black frontera, and put them on my Silver one...Had to strip off the front disk from the Black one and put it on the Silver one, as the wheel studs had sheared.. (ordered replacement studs and a bumper from Tom, so hopefully will get these sent up next week).
Thought as both were 2001 reg SWB's 2.2i's the wheels would have been same size, but the Silver one had Steels which are 15" , and the Black had Alloys which are 16".. Silver one looking good now, so should be able to get it through its MOT next week now.... Next job is to acquire an engine for the Black one...and fit the bumper that Tom is sending up, then 2 of them should be road worthy.... PS could be looking for a set of Alloys to put back on Black one, as it doesn't look good with the Steels....
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Hooked up the trailer with my mates offroad bike in it and went lanning with him
Found a lane near Haldon called "five lanes" (they call it that because five lanes all meet here "Note to self" dont do it again with a trailer(spent most of the time trying to bounce into the hedge or threw the back window) If it aint broken, you havent tried hard enough
Heaven wont take me and Hell is scared i will take over
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I was a good boy today, I changed the serpentine belt as well as the oil and filter. Thought I had better as it has done 124824 miles and I do not know when the belt was last changed (if at all

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Gave someone in government an extra £104.50 for a duck pond........got back in truck and no start...twiddled sensor in air intake pipe, turned key and away we went. cleaned said sensor with carb cleaner and a little sealant around pipe, tested and starts...no eml lights. bizzare never done it before, maybe the truck was disgruntled about the road tax as well (was a bit dirty mind...hopefully it'll be ok)
swore a lot about being made to spend so much for road tax,,,,,,,for what I ask you....!!!!!!!! The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes
