WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I use the spring gauge method on both mine. Seems to work. It is how they tell you to do it in the Isuzu Workshop manual for both the Gen 2 Rodeo (Frontera B Series) and all the Troopers. There are two values depending on whether they are new or re-used ones:
New: 20-25 N (2.0-2.5 Kg m : 4.4-5.5 Lb) Old: 12-18 N (1.2-1.8 Kg m : 2.6-4.0 Lb) Like you I was skeptical, but then it is the sort of basic and simple thing Isuzu comes up with for doing stuff. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Front end is all Trooper and has bigger inboard CV's than the Vauxhall offerings
The Troopers seem to have at least 3 variations in CV joint size, just hoping the spares I have are the right ones otherwise the front axle will need dropping to change the halfshaft Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I know of three. Standard and wide track. Then you had the pre-1987 which had 26 outer splines into the hub.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Started work on replacing the OSF driveshaft, stripped off the hub and hub carrier, inspected the inner CV cup and it is still intact and no damage. Trial fitted the replacement driveshaft and the replacement inner CV is the correct one
Extracted what was left of the CV joint not that there was much to remove ![]() Looks like it had started failing a long time ago as the failure point had worn smooth before it finally completely let go Unfortunately it has also damaged the hub carrier ![]() Ordered new bearings, seals and bottom ball joint so hopefully have it back together next week Am probably going to strip out the Milner CV joint from the other side just in case it too decides its had enough Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!No idea .. never replaced a CV joint. I cannot see how the CV joints change length as they all use the same hub carrier. I thought the drive shaft changed length .. unless the cup gets deeper?

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Jeep passed it's mot yesterday with only a few advisorys, one of which is that it has a engine cover.... So not too worried lol and late last night I found someone chucking out a briggs and Stratton petrol rotorvator (spelling?) so I had got that for free. Scores!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Not all . Fitted new fuel lines feed and return, new fuel filter and housing with built in primerpump along with a second hand injection pump to the 2.2 dti I got last week. And all seams to be going good.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted a B series brake vac tank to replace my old rotten one in the wing witch had to be moved for my snorkel and relocated my winch solenoid pack under the bonnet keeping the plug for the wonder lead on the grill and put secondary controls for the winch in the cab, I'll post pics when I take them
