been busy doing final prep for the garage (coming on monday). Cant wait... all excited now.

Started removing the middle crossmember to replace the rear gearbox mount as Im fairly sure thats what is causing the vibration as its still there even after I have replaced the centre bearing and prop UJ's. If not then Im stumped. As it turned out the UJ's were slightly worn and there is flex in the mount while the new one seems fairly stiff in comparison.

While removing the crossmember I had my first proper experience with butter bolts. A couple of the nuts welded to the chassis sheared off so Il have to get the grinder out tomorrow and whizz em off as I cant get in there with vice grips.

Still have to replace the damping donut ring thing as well since it seems to be perishing/cracking around the edges.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Front nearside wheel bearing replaced on the sport this afternoon.

Everything went really well (no grinders needed), but putting that circlip on (AVM hubs) - what a PITA.

All done now though bar a quick run over with a damp sponge and it'll be ready for Donnington :D

Washed car, retracted the soft top and went for a drive (is summer here ?).

Bought fish and chips and drove home.

decided to start the 2.4 as its not been started since sept

put charged battery on and it started first turn so filled up with water ( drained for winter)and let it tick over
& it smoked like hell think the heater matrix has split as water in near side footwell and water leak from front of engine so ive decided to scrap it

the rad and front head/spot lights will go in garage as spare's the wheel/tyres are going on the sport's took them off yesterday and put some old steeley's on the rear lights are going on the sports as conversion

im gonna take the fuel tank out as the sports has a slight leak from where the filler pipe bit comes out of tank (part of main tank) not rubber pipeing

a bloke up the road will take it to scrap yard but will bring the wheels back

should all be done by end of march
cheers

I didnt do much to my car today other than fix the horn, well strictly not true I robbed Andysd1's horn :D

While I was attacking Livewires car with spanners and hammers Andy washed my car bless him, he was a bit shocked at the mud stain it left outside his house though.

I left them at about 1930 they where fighting with getting jack from under the car, was a great afternoon good laugh if you dont mind flatulence
