That is an issue jim ... though I am considering installing a harpoon gun on the front to "hitch" an improptu tow from faster moving large vehicles like tractors and Combine Harvesters. They have enough torque not to notice the extra 2 tons of towing weight.

Re-wired the electric fan in after the bloody thing melted all me wiring the last time. All done correctly now! That will teach me not to bodge!!!!!

It got loaded on a trailer and taken away and now have a Disco instead

Only temporary though, tax is out, its not been used for several months while I build it a new home, its nearly there, spent the last few evenings on the roof, just finished the felt and battens so should be water tight and ready for tiling

Disco is in for major welding, the more I poke 'interesting' bits the more holes I find. Reckon about 3 days worth of cutting, welding and grinding to sort it out

Once Disco is sorted I can have my Frontera back

Just got the passenger side to do once I have sorted out my power steering leak and then I will do both of the rear parts too.

Still got to finish this off with another couple of coast of chrome paint.

I have to say to have 2 in the garage as well , ones jammed in the fully extended position (no jokes please ) but the other works

My fronty has got all of its original tools. Jack/jack handle/wheel brace and the screwdriver.

I already have a full set. Brand new looking .. almost as if previous owners never found them in the rear seats

today i made and fitted 2 new exhurst mounts
since the old ones had delaminated them selfs. and left it hanging for a few weeks...

but wasnt bad for about 9 years old

They were Austin mini rear exhaust mounts IIRC Matt....about 50p each...

Went to change the front brake pads ... only to discover the retaining bolts aren't up to much. Risked destroying them completely if I touched hem.

Settled on adjusting the front wheel bearings instead as the passenger wheel rocked by about 3-4mm. Drivers side was about 2-3mm. With that done I loosened/tightened all the tracking tie-rod nuts and copperslipped them so the tracking man doesn't hate me when I go to have that checked next week before going to the woods.

Todays work list completed. Engine and Gearbox oil as well as both diffs! WOW what a difference!

Re-visited the brakes again. Looking like the drivers side is partially siezed. Gonna have to get some bits and refurb them. Failing that I will just get a pair of good second hand ones and replace them.
