Not to mine but to Brian & gems had a look to see if Tara needs a head gasket. Brian thought it did because it was using water and over heating plus loss of power. From what I could tell it was loosing water from a leak to the water pump and the turbo hoses were ballooning out. A New water pump and turbo hoses should sort the problem out So it looks like a spanner party is on the cards before this months weekender.

Put two coats of wax oil on the chassis and any exposed floor pan I could get to along with the rear diff and trailing arms. Had to paint it on by hand though as the spray gun that I'd used with the kit before decided to pack up within the first minute of using it

Stripped all the interior out of the Bighorn. Then beat, hoovered, scrubbed and fabreezed the seats and carpet. While they dried I pulled all the trim and door cards off and hoovered a ton of dog hair, dust, and 20 years of mank. Then washed and wiped all the plastics down, and hoovered the insides. Put everything back together and now she smells and looms like a new car inside. No more arriving smelling of wet dog. Things of interest I found were a load of Japanese coins, also about 30 spent .22 cartridges.

Sunday... Fitted a (new to me) Snorkel to Truck Then took it for a drive to our local Ford at Shilton Dip to test it... It passed with flying colours .....
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Took it for an mot, found out last night that it expires on the 11th of last month . Commented that the emissions are a bit high but passed with a clean sheet

Flushed the coolant system of the Bighorn again. Also traced the lack of central locking on the LH rear door to a broken lock actuator.

After the starter giving up on me without warning yesterday, today I took it off, stripped it down and inspected it. The pinion had seized up on its worm thread, so lots of WD40, copper slip, leverage, hammering, very strong language and 3 hours later, and heypresto, a fully functioning starter again As for what caused it, well it could have been me accidentally filling my bell housing with water earlier in the week

I used the truck to venture to a clearing in the nearby forest to locate the best local bit of "dark sky" to see the meteor shower. Managed to see about 15, two of which were slow moving with bright tail traces that lasted a few seconds.
