WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Due to the recent water ingress to the rear area of the truck I finally took the rapidly drying carpet out of the rear section.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Not the truck, but the OiC HF's wee run-about town MX5 Go-Kart.... She's gonna kill me.
We've had it off the road for a few weeks 'resting' okay to be honest I didnt want to tax it quite yet, well this morning the sun was out, nice and warm and really a bit on the hot side for running around in the truck. So I went and taxed the go-kart while she went in to work for the day. I took the youngest to work, roof down, posing avaiators on etc... Going well, nipped into swindon for a new caravan tyre and the go-kart starts making like a 1930's steam engine or is it a 2.0 ltr fronty? Pulled over once I'd free-wheeled to a halt (they go for ages lol) and I reckon the very wobbly fan belt wheel is sort of telling me the water pump don't want to play any more. That and the fact that most of the water is now sat on the wrong side of the radiator I now have like an hour to source a new pump, rip the old one off, fit the new one and top up with coolant before she gets home and I can deny it all..... I'm just not going to manage it am I This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Change the same tyre twice
- Had a slow puncture for a while now in the only tyre on the truck with an inner tube. Got the gear together to do DIY tyre changing so I thought I'd give in a bash. Bought a replacement inner tube for £12 + VAT. Tried breaking the bead with my DIY manual tyres changing gizmo. No luck, so I used the high lift jack utilising the towing bar on the Fronty. Couple of attempts and it did the job. Got the tyre off one side only because I didn't want to break the other bead. Got old tube out OK and inserted the new one. Got the tyre back on OK and progressed to pump up with my 12 volt pump. Happy days until it got to 20psi. Bead popped back on but still it wouldn't go above 20psi. Then I felt the air escaping around the tube valve. Off comes the tyre and out comes the tube and I couldn't have got it aligned properly because there is a split at the base of the valve.Nothing to lose, and no chance of getting another tube today, so I put a normal valve in and struggled like nobody's business to get the tyre back on. Sussed what I was doing wrong, and push the tyre right down off the bead, on it pops with no more dramas - until I came to pump it up. Again, it got to 20psi and struggled to go any higher. Then I felt a small amount of air escaping on the side wall - that's the reason it had a tube in the first place. Left it pumping for a bit and up it goes to the required 32psi. Decided to leave it as the spare until I can get another tube and continue the same story next weekend. Weird thing was that I pumped up the original tube and it seems to hold air. Didn't risk pumping up to anything near the 30psi so I guess it must be a very small leak that only allows air to escape at the higher normal loaded pressure.
