cost of 2.3td engine

does anyone know if you can get re-con engines for the 2.3td & how much.theres nothing wrong with my engine at the moment (touching wood),but i'm now looking to start modifying mine now.as my body & chassis etc are very good,considering age my only worry is you spend a heap of money on it & engine blows....
also has anyone brought the brake discs & pads off e-bay,there cheap but are they any good.or is it the you get what you pay for saying...
