Say you will pay £550 with an MOT

I personally wouldnt buy a car without an MOT without knowing its history.

well iv made a complete u turn and looked at the petrol frounti we have in drive with dead engin and have decided to fix her up as she is in almost perfect condition appart from engin. so am now looking for a 2.2 petrol or bigger petrol that can go in here at a fair price , dont we some times make haisty disisions i nearly made the mistake of scrapping her that would of been a waist of a good motor just for the sake of finding a engine at good price, might as well do up ,the one we have at least we will have a vertuialy rebuilt truck and if they are as good as the short time we had her running of road as well then bring on the good times ,

Good Call!
You should be able to get a good 2.2 engine for that sort of money.
I had a 2.2 rebuilt (Linered, rebored, new bearings and oil pump) for less than £500....... might be an option?

Better the devil you know as they say,
And as I say, buying a second hand car is buying other peoples problems.

So how dead is your 2.2 engine?

oh and when in 2nd low they seem unstopable , I should add we only had road tyres on when we were playing in the sticky stuff and did not get stuck

So at the very least you need a full bottom end, ideally a replacement engine.
We have some posts on here about using the ecotec engine from other cars some where.

Place a wanted search on one of the many breakers sites such as http://find-a-part.com

Could be worth buying a whole 2.2 car for £500, there are some about on ebay, then taking the engine and breaking the rest or sell it for scrap ???

As you dont see to many 2.2 engines around.
