what button

Postby fogman on Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:50 pm

is there a button on the keyboard that can change the letters to other symbols or numbers ?
my lappy goes into hibernation after a few minutes if not used and so requires me to enter my password to start up again which normally isnt a problem but occasionally 1 of my cats will settle down and go to sleep on it when ive left the room to make a cuppa etc, so when i return and reclaim my pc i enter my password but im told its not recognised, i try several times but i always have to turn it off and do a full restart ! other times he will hop on it while ive gone to get something from another room so it dosent have time to go into hibernation before i return & it that case when i try to access a site i can enter my password but some numbers will be entered in the box instead of the intended letters although i have obviously selected the correct letters !

Top row, 4th from the right mate.
Press it then try and type, see what happens.
It should make you type just numbers until pressed again. Is this whats happening?

Turn off the hibernation, or extend the time. I would expect it to be a setting in control panel/power settings. What OS you using?
Or close the lid if your leaving it.

better consult your technician than experimenting something.

it is not applicable to try any thing with any knowledge on it.

So let me get this right.....

You are gonna try to deter the cat from pressing stuff on your keyboard, by cunningly covering it with not one but 2 MOUSE mats.... :oh yer:

You havent really thought this through properly have you Fogman!!
