Can't find my E mails & Spell Check ..

Postby Roo on Wed Feb 17, 2010 11:30 am

Hi
My laptop crashed big time about a fortnight or 3 weeks ago, did have XP on it, but have put Vista the recovery disk in and have got it connected to the internet now..
My problem is that I can't seem to find my e mails, I think they used to go into outlook express, but not sure  and just wondered if anyone knew how I could find my account please? and would I have to set up that 'pop3' thingy, with the emails, sorry

Also how can I put the spell check on my laptop please

Any help would be most grateful ....Many Thanks!

Roo

Btw Its good to be back :D

By using the restore disks there is a good chance it would have automatically formatted the Disk.

Your emails are on the D: partition and go to your ISP for instructions on how to set up your email again.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Hi Roo..
My Dad had the same problem, he's 60 and computer illegitimate (his words not mine), print out the page below from the internet, grab a glass of wine / beer and a couple of prozacs.. and follow it step by step. He did it and it worked!, if you dont have an XP disc, search for a folder called "i386" on your PC, it will be in you C: or D: drive (normally).. the file wll be in there...

http://michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm

Your Outlook emails, you will need to know your ISP eg Hotmail, Live, Yahoo, BT, Virginmedia etc, depending on the ISP you use, log into the web based interface (go to their homepage eg www.hotmail.com and log into your email account) and go to the 'tools' tab / button, there is usually an 'import to Outlook' or similar button, this will set your SMTP and POP3 servers.
If its not an option, have a look here http://www.e-eeasy.com/SMTPServerList.aspx

Fingers crossed for you!

John
