Mobile internet

Mobile internet

Postby Trugga on Mon Jul 20, 2009 10:35 pm

Anyone got/done this.

I'm not talking about GPRS on a PDA, but rather a laptop being connected to the internet whilst out and about.

In the past, I've seen this done with a "Nokia Card" - effectively a sim card in a PCMCIA device. Now days, they all seem to be a USB thingy.

A quick Google suggests I will want a Vodaphone "top up and go" pacckage

Has anyone used one, got any insight ?

i use "3" mobile broadband. It uses the 3G HSDPA network.

Its all i use, 7Gb of top up is more than enough for me and mrs dave for a months uses. Plus it has the advantage i can take it anywhere on the laptop or use it at home with an ICS link to SWMBO machine.

If you do a google search (or your preferred search provider) for martin lewis money saving expert and then search on his site for 3 dongle for free theres a link to a company that will send you a shiny new 3 mobile broadband for "free"
in reality its about 4 quid for the postage but is well worth it.

I have bought a couple from them for my laptop and swmbo's laptop ant there very good.

No contract and ideal for web browsing on the go but not much cp if your into downloading music or flims etc.
