Laptop Woes

Laptop Woes by mickh on Tue May 21, 2013 7:36 pm
Daughter has a Dell Studio 1737 Laptop, which allegedly overheated and cut out. Restarted fine, apart from unable to connect to the internet. When trying to reconnect it to the internet, it wouldn't load, and had to close it down. Then when attempted to restart again, and every time since, it allows me to put the password in, and then the screen will be black with only the mouse, that you can move. No matter how long we leave it on or off it still does the same. Advice?

what operating system is it running? There's been an update recently thats caused sh1tloads of trouble with some laptops

My misus laptop's been playing up too. Sometime it opens correctly and other time's it won't and I have to shut it down ad start again.

If you boot it in to safe mode (f8 I think from the post screen iirc) then go through system restore and restore it to the last saved point, it should solve your problems. not heard of it being a problem on vista, but then again, not many people us it these days

After booting it in safe mode it came up with the on screen keyboard, I closed that and the screen went black and would do nothing.
Thanks for the offer Brian,looks like it will be coming to you otherwise the next boot it gets will be a size 9.
