Wireless mouse and keyboards

As I am left handed and the rest of my family are gammy handed Right handers and they very occasionally get on this PC when I go the toilet (they cant be bothered to fire up the three laptops ) they need to move the mouse so I go wireless for that main reason.

I had a great Logitech keyboard and mouse LX710, but I suspect the mouse has hit the floor a few times as it has problems with copy and paste and a few other issues, now this mouse had he two extra buttons, back and forwards I used them for, but since its broke I have been using the old old logitech keyboard I took to work years ago and its belting strong but the mouse doesnt have the extra buttons on and its doing my noggin in.

So, can I just buy a mouse that has the extra buttons and will it connect to the receiver I am currently using? Or will I have to use another USB receiver (which I dont want to do)

Failing that has any one got a good set for sale, but must have the extra buttons on the mouse?

Have you opened the mouse up and given it a good clean out?
Amazing what you find in them.
Dog and cat hair can really mess up the poor wee LEDs and stuff till you blow it all out.

i wouldnt of thought a new logitech wireless mouse would work with the older reciever,as they change software all the time,i had to change my old trusty logitech mx500 because they no long support it and there is no driver for vista/windows 7,it still worked but i lost the use of all the extra buttons which i use all the time,ive now switched to a wired microsoft habu which has the same set of buttons,there is nothing stopping you having two mice hooked up,get a cheap and cheerfull for the rest of the family and invest in razer deathadder for yourself,the deathadder is a very good mouse and also comes in a left handed version,my mate is left handed and bought one of these,he hasnt looked back since http://store.razerzone.com/store/razeru ... .182251700

i know where your coming from i have a wireless keyboard and mouse on my second pc thats in the bedroom,its a dell multimedia board,the mouse is just bog standard with a scroll but the forward/back buttons are on the keyboard along with email button and media player controls ect,its a very good keyboard/mouse,in the 5 years or so ive had it ive only changed the batterys about 3 times,they turn up on ebay and go for a very good price,and from what ive heard this dell keyboards guts are actually logitech,keep your eye on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dell-Wireless-Key ... 1e5f8e2a52

That mouse and receiver is exactly like the old one I am using now, and thats.. you guessed Logitect, the keyboard is similar but a bit different, this has took a hammering in the last 4 years as I used it every day in work

yup im a big fan of logitech,very tough keyboard and mice,my old mx500 was that battered it had no paint left on it yet it still worked ok on xp machines,the dell keyboard had a can of beer knocked into it so i took all the keys out and cleaned it up and its still working perfect today i now use a logitech g11 keyboard for my main pc which again is the dogs nuts.

The Mrs knocked my scotch over a microsoft keyboard once, brand new, it broke £60 worth, took it back as faulty and they didnt have a replacement so got the Logitex LX 710 and loved it but thats the one the mouse has gone mental on

.Hmmm just hooked up the one I thought was broke again trying different things, but this time I attached the usb dongle directly to the pc rather than the usb extension I had it on before and it seems to be working...for now copy and paste fine and keeping shaded, woohooo
I can only think the extension was faulty but all the same I will keep the generic drivers and not update them as I was suspicious that was the original fault also.

its not just the looks,its a very comfy mouse and has two side buttons and three buttons on top as well,which can be configured to any button or function,chances are it was the cable because your keyboard/mouse uses setpoint software which is proven to work with vista and windows 7,make sure you download the correct one(x32 bit or 64bit) http://www.logitech.com/en-us/433/147?osid=14&bit=64

Yer did have the 64 bit but the mouse was very vague and one click on say a smiley gave you two or three smileys, as Ive been using this now it looks like its going haywire again three oh yeas grrrr

sounds like the switch is sticking,give it a blast with some contact cleaner or carb cleaner.

Yer possibly, I did clean it out but its like it is too sensitive.

Well may have had a result, time will tell, Ive just ripped it apart and put it back together again and its behaving itself again....holding breath
