Method
First start by removing both rear windows, tailgate glass, and removable roof section, and rubber seals around the windows and tailgate
Now using the T20 screwdriver unscrew and remove the exterior air vent located at the rear on either side of the hard top.
Carefully remove the plastic inner cover. This could be stuck down if it has never been removed before.
Now using the T40 socket undo the 2 bolts shown. Be careful not to lose the washers
Repeat the above for the other side.
Next you need to disconnect the rear washer pipe. This is on the near side. The non return valve should be refitted once the roof is removed to prevent leakage.
Note that there are also drain pipes located between the screws on both sides. These should be pulled up and the top part disconnected from the pipe.
Now you need to unbolt the front of the roof from the roof of the car.
To access the bolts you need to remove the cover which has the centre interior light and alarm sensors on. This is done by removing the Pozi screws x4, and unscrewing the interior light using the T25 screwdriver.
Using the 13mm socket, undo the 5 nuts shown
Roof bars (if fitted) These only need to be undone on the main roof. Prise out the rubber caps, and using the 8mm socket unscrew. Gently lift up and catch any of the bits that fall from underneath.
The roof is now free, and using a second person to help you, should be lifted from the front, tilting backwards (like a normal convertible roof) to take it off. Refit interior light and trim
Arming the alarm system with the roof off can be done by pressing the button in the middle of the motion sensor on the driver’s side before locking the doors. This switches off the sensors, but leaves all other security systems enabled. This can be checked by looking at the other one which should have a flashing led to indicate they are swithced off.
Refitting tips Make sure that you reconnect the drain & rear window washer pipes first. This is easiest achieved by placing a small wedge under each rear corner of the roof so as to raise it enough to gain access to the pipes. The nuts holding the front in place only need to be just over hand tight. Over tightening could cause a poor fit and leaks. Applying a small amount of windscreen sealant to the corners of the side window seals is advisable to help prevent leaks.
