Speedo, Rev counter and fuel guage don't come on with the ignition, but will show when sidelights turned on

Applies to

All B series Fronteras

Required equipment

  • Screwdriver
  • Low wattage soldering iron

Difficulty Level

Medium

Estimated time to complete

1-2 hours

Fix

  • Take out the 4 screws that hold in the facia - 2 by the speedo cocks on the underside of the dash, and 1 either side of the steering wheel behind the lower trim
  • Once the facia is off the speedo cluster is held in by 4 screws you can then pull the speedo out a bit so you can disconnect the 3 cables
  • Once you have the unit out you can remove the black panel that surrounds the speedo which also holds the perpex cover

  • Then its onto the needles at first it seems the little buggers dont want to come off but a bit of prising with my fingers and a bit of and they came off luckily without taking the pins with them

  • Now you can peel off the speedo black cover

  • Remove the clear plastic cover (this just pops off)

  • Now prise the board out by pushing back the little clips and there was 1 torx screw to take out. Also if you turn the thing over you will see in the corner a little square that a bit of the membrane goes into and there are a couple of bits of metal to bend back and now the board will pop out

  • Using a low wattage soldering iron, check and retin connections on the board, particularly the ten connectors where the wiring loom attaches - Be careful!

  • Reassemble the dash unit and refit
