I used a tube of black silicon sealant to fill in the gap when I did the snorkel on Truck some four years ago. Still going strong now. You might want to re-visit the vent at the top, should be a kick in the end of the down pipe where the top section fits to the down pipe. This brings top of vent level and the grill sloping back under it to stop the rain getting in, also allows you to rotate the vent around so it doesn't scoop rain up when driving in heavy rain. There's also a gert big metal washer thing that fits in the top section to direct any incoming rain away from the down tube and out through the vents that are moulded into end of the pipe. As you have it now your running a risk of filling the air filter from rain that's more than likely to get in when it's parked up never mind the stuff you'll scoop up when driving.

Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... The sparewheel cover on the Mrs' truck has rotted away - only seven years old... Replaced it today and fitted reflective adhesives as before for more security and did a little paintwork with PlastDip. This is a logo of our favourite red vine from Sardinia: Cenere. BTW The other truck has got a new crankshaft sensor.

Sent her to the breakers today.
If anyone in the northwest needs any bits she will be laying in state at Atlas Salvage .Jackson St .St Helens .
Sad day, off to drown my sorrows .....hic.
What surprised me really was the fact that after nearly a year without starting put on a good battery and she fired into life.. She did throw a wobbler though,drove to the ramps of the truck then flatly refused to rev up she didn't want to go .

Truck... Nothing apart from look at it with a frown as it sit's in the naughty corner of the yard awaiting the 'spanners'.... Have to admit, these things go sooooo much better when the engine oil stays in the engine and not spread all down the chassis as in this case. Twas quite happily chugging home from work a couple of weeks ago, steady 60(ish) temp where it should be, oil pressure where it should be and no abnormal rattles (ignoring the fact it's got a 3.1 lump in there and they rattle the same as the 2. when there was this rapidly increasing racket and the oil pressure fell through the bottom of the gauge. Pulled over for a quick look which confirmed the need for recovery in about 2 seconds flat... 4 hours later RAC recovery rocks up having come all the way from Guildford to recover Truck about 12 miles to home.... I'll have a good look at it to see what's given up over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully nothing a good spannering won't put right. O-No... Replaced the cam belt and water pump this morning, thought I really should get round to it as I hadn't change either since getting it about 4 1/2 years ago. Now rapidly heading towards 110k...

Changed the front pads. Having now found out why I needed to change the front pads Tuesday evening will be spent replacing the N/S front calliper with a new one!
Really should add callipers to the list of spares to be kept in the shed...

Not so much today as every spare waking moment for the last 3 weeks completely stripped & re-welded the rear end of that rotbox that is my 2.2 Dti, including plates on the chassis, and the fabricating of new spring seats, panhard mounts & a trailing arm mount. Also in the mix were 3 seized calipers, 3 sheared slid bolts, 2 brake pipes, a new exhaust, oil and filter, and a fooking wheel that defied all normal means of removal. This was finally solved with liberal application of boiling water, swearwords and a flaggers maul Cheers to gregster for the speedy provision of 2 of the calipers. MOT time tomorrow, albeit with a 'borrowed' caliper off the 2.8, while I wait for the last on to be delivered

Fixed an oil leak on rocker cover gasket next to no.4 injector not sure if it's THE leak but fingers crossed, changed gearbox and transfer box oil which was joyous fun witht the P.O.S. syphon pump tube i bought form ebay working at half a litre an hour, gave up and cut up hosepipe and used a funnel in the end to fill it in 5 minutes. Still quite stiff to get into gear so unfortunately i think a new clutch may be in order as I've already bled the system and well and truly reinforced the bulkhead by the master cylinder.

Today I have been mainly replacing the front discs and pads. Discs £22.50, pads £10.00, ex VAT [RTG Automotive, Leyland] Fairly straight forward job, though I need a new slider rubber, I'll probably get a kit next week. I reckon it's never had discs before as the hubs looked like they'd never been off!

Finished off the n/s rear brake rebuild. Thank goodness. In the last five days; front discs and pads, rear discs, pads and shoes, rear disc covers / back plates, rear wheel bearings (unavoidable as we had to heat the retaining collar to remove the half shafts) Insured it (good old Adrian Flux)

Replaced drivers side passenger door with a better one as the old one had a big rust patch. Got the window going which hasn't worked for ages,then when I put it all back together it didn't work and I started have owns trouble with the others . I think it's the switches by the gearstick. Fortunately the front ones are working although drivers Side e a bit uncertain sometimes. Couldn't work out how to get them apart and didn't want to braek any plastic,which I am quite prone to.

Snap , mine passed it's MOT as well .
In the past two weeks it's had
Oil, air diesel filters & fluids New brakes all round including the daffy handbrake shoes Numerous PO "extras" removed , dodgy battery draining alarm , peeling tint on the front windows , roof rack held on with cable ties etc New track rods ends, lower ball joint Some light sill welding Got the windows working again New coolant, washed 100KG of mud out of the radiator fins and then flushed it Stripped put all the seats VAXED everything and replaced And then repainted all of the exterior and the wheels
I'm happy with it , and having been able to drive it round for the first time , have noticed the water pump is leaking.... woot, more jobs for Monday !
Will try an post some pix when I can work out best way of doing it !

Found the oil leak on Truck. Nothing too serious, just a 30mm dia ragged hole in the sump above the axle tube! No oil in there now, but it still runs. Sort off Guess that'll be yet another engine swap. Getting good at those now with that thing.
