2.2 DTI starting problem

Postby Fronty291 on Tue Jan 10, 2017 9:38 pm

Hi All

Need help... fronty 2.2DTI (03 plate) left standing for 2 weeks came to start it up but would not start.
Turned over okay but no start.. put battery on charge when fully charged still no joy....
Seems no diesel getting thru... have removed fuel return lines from manifold and cranked but nothing comes out...
I have read that imobiliser can switch off fuel pump...
Is there a way to reset it or manually reset it to open.... or am I going down the wrong path???

All help appreciated... (first time its happened in 10 years....)

chheers

Fuel may have drained back to the tank due to an air leak somewhere I had the same issue. Cranking won't do anything if this is the case as it's not a lift pump and you run the risk of killing it by running it dry. Removing the fuel line will allow whatever fuel was in it to drain back anyway.

Hi Guys
thanks for the replies... have checked filter fuel seems okay no waxing... but cannot seem to get fuel into the engine,,, wondering if immobiliser has shut off the pump as I see that many problems can result from ECU shutting off pump.....

Will have to call on ADAC (as I am currently in Germany)... and see what they can do.

many thanks

Er ....... my post should read " changing the fuel filter " not "hanging the fuel filter" in case anybody thought it was some kind of unusual cure....

Hi Guys

So ADAC came and put diagnostic on and it seems the poor Girl has lost her Memory .... that is to say she does not recognise my key when I press the button to dis imobilise the car....."key unknown" is the Response.

Okay thinks I just a simple case of re programming......

Took it to Opel dealer who now informs me I need a new fuel pump circa 3,000 euros to repair!!! methinks they are having a larf!!! :rotfl:

So at the moment me and car stuck in Germany unless I can get a second opinion :grumpy:

not good!!!
