Re: Monkey motorsport reviewHi All
Had a good day, nice to meet you Phil, and to see you and your girls again Chris, and of course Anna and Carl too. Here are my photos from the day (there's 48 so lots to look at) Rich getting stuck the first time Rich's damage after mud flap got torn off All in all i thought that Rich's truck did very well considering running on worn AT's and standard suspension. The only other damage was a modified exhaust tailpipe.
Re: Monkey motorsport reviewLuverly set of photo's Claire, as always you really seem to get the good ones

Re: Monkey motorsport reviewPhew! Right then, sorry for the delay in posting, all will be revealed
So, I didnt have much sleep the night before and got up at 6am on sunday morning, left the house at 6.45am and drove straight to the MacD's carpark where I thought I would have a little snooze while waiting for everyone to turn up. Then it struck me that I would probably want more cash in case the price went up at the site as there was some confusion over that. It took 20 minutes to find a cash machine and by the time I got back to the carpark and parked up, I decided to have a fag and a snooze and then Chris turned up. I decided it would have been rude not to say hello, even though he was early! Left for the P&P at about 10.30am, arrived about half an hour later, did the usual sign in checks etc and we then went for a wander around. Rich promptly got stuck about 5 mins into the whole thing, got that sorted. Wandered around a bit more then had a go at the bit that Carl knocked his light guard on, luckily I only knocked my wing mirror back and scratched the cover. Touching wood that that was the only damage I did for the day. Overall I did enjoy myself, but that was due more to the company I was in then the site. It was far too muddy to be much 'fun'. Everytime I got into or out of the car I ended up with great big sticky pads on my feet that had to be scraped off. Very clay like mud that seems to have gotten everywhere and stuck to everything including my radiator and oil cooler which were caked in the stuff. On the way home I was about 15 miles from Brecon when I saw one of the Land Rovers (had a sticker on the back bumper '100 inches of pure pleasure') parked at the side of the road with the driver underneath fiddling with something. I duly stopped and offered my assistance. Both of his rear control arm bushes had evaporated into the ether somewhere and he was ratchet strapping the rear axle to keep it into place. I offered to follow behind him in case of any further difficulities since he was going to Brecon and I would have been passing through that was anyway. 15 miles and an average speed of 30mph later and I said goodbye on the CB and he thanked me for keeping an eye on him. It wasnt far after that that I decided to pull over and have a kip in the car, I was absolutely shattered. I set my alarm for half an hour and promptly fell asleep. 2 hours later I woke up and decided I had better get a move on. Got home about 9.30pm. Exhausted, had a cup of tea and went to bed. Great to meet everyone, Chris seems like a constantly happy chappy even when faced with a damaged front wing Car and Anna, it was great having a chance to talk to you this time. And it was good to meet Rich and Claire as well. Ver determined that Rich lad. Especially with his AT's. OK then, not many pics as the clay was putting me off and none of the videos turned out well at all apart from two so here goes (vids at the bottom).
Re: Monkey motorsport reviewGreat pics phil

Re: Monkey motorsport reviewTreated Tigger to jet wash at the local valeters today, need to be able to see whats happened to the brakes under all that mud
They usually manage to do the outside and underneath in 20mins, with all the clay from yesterday it took them over an hour They usually charge £5-, today he was lost for words and mumbled £10-, bargain so bunged him an extra fiver Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: Monkey motorsport reviewGood post Phil, some nice shots too.
I'm generaly a happy chap, even when I pranged Tigger, s**t happens. If it had been my 2.8 then I probably would not have been quite so cheerful Bought Tigger so I could do this stuff and not worry too much about the odd little miss-hap. Still a pain in the butt having to fix it though Need it sorted by Sat cos I'm off laning again, found a wing and light in local breakers, just need to get my head underneath and see whats up with the brakes After Sat she is getting a good clean n tidy and onto fleabay, hello 2.8 sport, provisionally named Bog Warbler Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: Monkey motorsport reviewYup, clay it is. Sticks to everything and turns to dust when it dries. Thankfully I have a power washer. Still took over an hour to get it all off and I didnt even stop for a fag. Even used the dirtblaster lance as the regular lance wasnt good enough and that usually gets everything clean. Alternator was coated with the stuff as well.
Deffo Laning next time. I am not going back to that site unless its been dry for a week beforehand! Rich: There must be some lanes around Hereford that we could explore?
Re: Monkey motorsport reviewOh yeah, I forgot. Rich: If your talking to that Landy chappy (Russ?) tell him no worries.
