and you select it, drive forwards to engage it, de-select and reverse to disengage Fuel leaks can be anywhere...look around the fuel tank/filler pipe area for starters What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Good place to start for fuel leaks on the sport are the fuel filter under the sill halfway down the drivers side or the fuel filler neck sometime splits.
Just reread and saw the fuel bit Ste

Re: help please new to FOG(some problems)
had a fuel leak not to long ago. Mine was at the top of the fuel tank, smell of petrol for a while, but no aparent drips anywhere. then i got the tell tale drips later, turned out to be the pipes from the fuel sender on top of the tank. i had them renewed and all has been fine. so its worth checking there, its not easy to see, but a few members maybe be able to help on how to check this area, as its not always easy to see, for the novice. sean
well i engange it and the rear wheels turn spin lol but the front wheels dont do anything just free wheeling so cant get up hill lol the light come on. on the dash so say it enganged but just the rear works. will check the feul pump as its making a hell of a noice. i get 80 mile out of £20 and i filled the thing up £100 and lasted 2 days 230 miles lol . really pain about the 4wd not working
his may be helpfull
http://fronteraowners.co.uk/v-web/bulle ... php?t=6897 also check propshaft is fitted to front diff A legend in my own mind
was his front wheels not working either and after replacing or putting the circlips back did this sort the problem seems a big proplem for it to be to sticky circlips ? thanks
i dont know how i check this? how do you never had a 4wd before but man there fun lol going to get new circlips on monday try replace them hope this makes a diffrences
If the front hubs look like the ones in the pics on the thread above (Steve's post) then they are auto hubs (and damn those white wheels were clean!) --- I have copied the picture of the Auto Hubs across for comparison together...
AUTO HUBS MANUAL HUBS Then you have manual hubs and you will have to turn that to LOCK in order to make the hubs engage. Let us know what ones you've got. It might be worthwhile having a read through THIS THREAD before trying again and also before pulling the hubs apart. It might be technique more than a problem (not saying you don't know what your doing, but have a read and then go play, don't forget to not do it on tarmac!) Good luck and let us know how you get on. PS. the 2.0 is not very good on fuel economy! (Drive it steady and don't rev it too hard and it does get slightly better but it's a heavy vehicle with a small underpowered engine) Si www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
I can vouch for the poor fuel consumption of the 2l my last fronty did probably less that 80 miles to twenty quid!!!!
My 2.2 Petrol B Series is much better on the jungle juice and it has a vast amount more power!! well i haev auto lock hubs. i have a funny clicky noice think some thing is lose. prob be the bottom ball joint. tho will have to get them off it just totally mucky i think i like the dirt to much lol. and 4x4 looks wrong clean i think lol. but will get down and dirty take it apart and try again many thanks
If you have a funny clicking noise when running forward and it sounds just like a click, click, click noise then that means that the auto-hubs are partially engage.
Take the vehicle to a bit of gravel, stop, put it in 4HI then drive forward two or 3 metres, put it in 4LO and do the same, then stop, put it back to 2HI and reverse 5 or 6 metres (checking that you aren't going to run over any children) THAT hopefully might sort that out. Sometimes the hubs (specially if they've been wet a few times and need new grease) get partially engaged due to not being properly disengaged or winding themselves out somehow.. See if that makes a difference and let me know. Si www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
Strip hub, check that the circlip is attached
If it comes off the drive shaft can slip back of the splines and you will lose drive at the front. Quick check, grab the drive shafts and check for excessive movement in and out of the hub http://www.crag-uk.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
