Hi foggers

Please be advised that on Sunday 13th March 2011 we will doing a Workday at the Woods...

We will meet at 9am at Notcutts garden centre just off j7 m20 (head towards maidstone from j7 and its immediately on your left...)
(the meet point may be changed to the woods, if everyone attending has been before and knows where they are going...I will advise)

Please bring with you any tools that you have that may be useful for clearing trees, digging and lunch/drinks as nowhere very near to get grub when you have worked up an appetite.

Dont worry if you cant bring your fronty, we find somewhere to park the lesser cars if not 4x4's so you can still join in if you want to.

Probably not a good idea to bring dogs to the work days, I am just concerned about them running around with chainsaws going and 4x4's moving around,
and children must be kept on a tight leash and near parents at all times as we don't want any accidents.

Workdays will not be capped at the moment as loads to do, and we will be grafting as a team to get work done...this will involve some delegation of tasks within the team to ensure we are both productive and safe...
Use of chainsaws will be restricted to logging or pruning areas as instructed...I don't want to risk accidents with inexperienced members felling trees and anything we cut has to be considered so as to retain the character of the woods and to represent best productivity.
This is gonna be hard graft, I can be a bit of a slave driver

Please note this is NOT a playday, and although some 4x4 driving/working will probably be involved during the day, we are there to work to get the site ready for the next meet...

Anyone "outworked" by Sally will be on toilet emptying duty at the next weekender!!!!

Your safety is paramount, I must insist that anyone attending ensures that they stay a safe distance from any felling or chainsaw operations or moving vehicles...
Falling debris can be unpredictable in its direction or distance of fall, so please be very careful...

Please add your name to the list if you are coming to help with this, and thanks for your support guys...we are really getting there with the site now!!!

See you soon

Aaaand, a week later, I shall have to take my name off the list :(
Not been a particularly good week at work for me, and next week's not looking particularly brilliant, either. So, given the diesel prices at the moment it's the workday, or the picnic, and I'm going to save myself for the picnic.

Sorry guys,
Jim.

Big thanks to Matt and Matt for your help today up the woods...

Today we had two Matts, bit like a Barrets showhome with cream carpets on a rainy day... :oh yer:

We had Matt of the fudge variety,

and Matt the green oval lover (but now owner of Richy/Horses/Houndog white shorty)

Sally was not well, and opted to sit out this workday (the first one she has ever missed I think! )

We met at the workshop where we unloaded Fudges truck and trailers goodies into the workshop...He has kindly donated a fridge and freezer to "the cause" to keep up the workshop to keep stuff fresh for the weekenders...and a glass desk for my airbrushing stuff (you wait till you see you welding mask in sunshine Matt!!!)..
Many thanks Matt and Kelly for these and some other stuff...

Then up to the woods to get busy :axe:

We pruned up and cleared fallen stuff off the hills and bottom area to start, then improved the bit to the bottom of the axle twister climb that leads up between the hooj fallen trees from the top part of the yew tree would above the clearing...New track into it now too, much better
The we put in some new tracks in the dense woods by Krushers revenge and finally cut a new track down by the sideslopey bit where houndog got his white leafer stuck at the last weekender...

So all in all a productive day...its nice to see the woods coming back to life again, the trees are all in bud and the bluebells appearing through the spoil from the diggerworks...Give it another few weeks and it will look lovely up there and our canopy will be restored over the woods...

Cant wait now...its gonna look great this year, and with loads of wheel waving and flextastical challenges amoungst a beautiful woodland setting...

Thanks again guys, was a good day, we had a laff, and didnt get too wet and put some nice new bits in for the next picnic.... 8) 8) 8)
