Hi all New to the site been geting a nice little 2000 3 door 2.2 petrol but havent had chance to have a good look about but bought with a problem of it not reving above 2300 rpm im thinking a blocked cat exhaust then airflow meter just wondered if any of the experts have come across this before as a point to look at , thx guys

Morning bud and welcome to the forum. I think you will find that it has gone into what is called Limp Mode. These vehicle have a program in the ECU that if there is a fault with one of the sensors it slows everything down to limit damage to the engine. If you post your quetions in the 2.2petrol threads there will be someone with more knowledge to guide you!

Was this 2.2i ( petrol ) or 2.2DTi? think there is some confusion here..

If it's a Diesel then limp mode would show as warning light on the dash and ot rev above 2500.

If its Petrol, then there isn't a limp mode.. you will need to check temp sensor, MAP sensor, Air Filter, Fuel Filter.. if its new to you then I would suggest a service - all filters, oil etc. If there is nothing in the documentation/service history then cam belt/tensionsers and water pump / coolant etc. Maybe do a fuel pressure test.

If the cam belt goes, your looking at a new head and or engine..
