The Romanian ARO Offroad car may reborn

Postby badsykes on Wed Jan 11, 2017 7:22 am

Hi All
... Maybe some of you may know the Romanian legendary off-road truck produced in Romania named Aro

http://www.automobileromanesti.ro/Aro/seria_Aro_24/

You can check the library in the above site...I do know that is somehow a copy of Defender in many ways...The wheels are compatible. You can remove a rim from Defender and install it on Aro and it will fit perfectly. The bolt distance is the same. Also the Aro 200 and 300 was built with very heavy duty in mind just like the Defender...
The Aro production stopped in 2003 for political reasons mostly and many want it back and some stundents from an University with Auto courses made this....

In the background the black one was the latest official model from 2003.In the front the blue one is the newest prototype...Scrool down for pictures.

https://www.4tuning.ro/masini-noi/noul- ... 26844.html

I would love that to go in full production...It is inspired by latest trucks but reborn in country.

That is pretty cool. Knowing places like Romania is will be pretty simple and rugged, so less to go wrong. Fingers crossed it works out. It could be a great boost to the economy and local employment. Also Romania gets what looks like a massive Suzuki SJ on steroids!

Is looking like Suzuki Samurai on the front...I wonder if Suzuki will complain...
Also even if it's looking very much like a Samurai actually the inspiration is from an old Army Romanian car called IMS

If you strech the radiator grill you have the new Aro iCamarad ... I do feel the big resemblace to Samurai is just a coincidence.
