frontera needs restoration

Postby kingfisher on Sun Nov 06, 2016 10:07 pm

hi
not been on here for ages anyway 2yrs ago I took my frontera off the road because it failed the mot .so it's been standing on the drive since then .I'm now moving house and there's no drive so was wandering for any one on here.could restore it so it will pass the mot
as far as I remember it needs. welding on both sills by that back wheel and inner sills as well .the front around the headlights needs welding as well.the rear brakes are binding and it has gone mouldy in side .I have only 2 weeks left here so don't know what will happen after then .the reason why I want it done is purely sentimental reasons as my dad had it from new and I have had it about 12 years .and I don't want to get rid of it so could anyone on here take it on and get it passed the mot .for me .and the cost as well thanks

So let me get this right, please tick the right option...

1. You would like someone to sort the truck out to get a clean MOT ticket on it for you and pay for the time/materials required as well?
2. You would like someone to help sort the truck out to get a clean MOT ticket on it for you and you will pay for the materials required?
3. Anyone want a truck, but you have to promise to sort it out, mot it and look after it rather than scrap it?
4. I've got a pile of parts, still on wheels anyone need a nut or two... ?

Option 1. Somehow I don't think that one is going to go very far...
Option 2. A possibility depends on where you are and if someone nearby wishes to help. If it had been a 2.8, your description is accurate and there was no other 'issues' then maybe a weekend, tops two would sort matters. maybe a spanner party?
Option 3. Again a possibility, but once it leaves the drive.......
Option 4. No comment......
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

I know it sounds harsh but I think its time to let the old girl go. After 2 years there could be a lot more wrong than what you have posted. Most people nowadays hardly have enough time to keep up with their own jobs list let alone take on a project that could turn into a nightmare. Could you possibly find a lock up to store it for a few weeks so you can work on it if you are desperate to revive it.

Option 1? You want someone to restore it and they pay for the parts?

think you've made the right decision there especially if the car concerned is the one in your profile named THE MONEY PIT seems like good time to draw a line under it
