Sorry not fronty related but need advice.

Postby dave1966 on Thu Oct 27, 2016 9:09 pm

Hi all.

Sorry for this not being a fronty related but need advice.

We bought a 2002 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 sxi with 79k on the clock for my stepdaughter to learn to drive in and be her very first car, it sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders. Op-com says that there is a random misfire, so I replaced the spark plugs with brand new ones and also replaced the coil pack too but it still comes up with a random misfire. So I'm thinking that it could be the fuel injectors.

Many thanks in advance.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
if you have replaced spark plugs and coil pack, may be worth checking connections to the injector and maybe do a compression check to make sure that there's nothing wrong there either.

if that's OK, then were the spark plugs OK, sooty, wet, black, brown, white?
Was 1,3-4 similar or different to #2?

Hi.

Plugs 1 and 3 were dry and brown but plugs 2 was wet and black. Plug 4 was wet and sooty.

Will check the injectors connectors tomorrow or Sunday.

When it first starts up it seems to be fine when the EML light goes out then when the EML light comes back on it then starts running rough on idle.

Thankyou for your advice.

Hi bleu.

The car doesn't sound like it's chapping when running.

Disconnected injector connectors one at a time from number 1 no change same with number 2 but number 3 and 4 the engine cut out and when they were reconnected the car started no problem. Does this mean that the injectors are faulty?
