Bad starting

Hi iv just got a 2000 2.2 dti on start up from cold it feels like it's missing and juddering like mad for a couple of minutes the EMl comes on for a few secounds but gose off if I give it some revs it settles down has anyone had same problem cheers

mine was the same also had loads of black smoke out the back
dont know exactly what cured it as had local mechanic recondition pump and fit new injectors,seems fine now but did cost over a grand

Sounds like fuel draining back to the tank overnight. I had similar issue which was fixed by replacing all fuel lines.
