Got my first Frontera

Postby Spudicus on Sat Aug 20, 2016 5:33 pm

Hi all,
Just collected a Frontera 2.2 dti. My first Frontie. It's been an interesting day, on the drive home it made a funny noise, the alternator light came on, steering heavy. Pulled straight over and lifted the bonnet expecting the serpentine belt to have failed, but no, the tensioner wheel had disintegrated! Good ol Google, found a motor factors near by that had one in stock. Fitted new tensioner, runs like a dream........ Apart from the power steering fluid Yellow watering out of the rack! I was aware of the rack issue before purchasing.
I was wondering if any of you good fellows could recommend somewhere to get a good used or recon rack from!
Thanks all.

Upon inspection, with the help of a beer and torch. It is just the short pipe on the rack that is the problem. I removed the pipe, put new seals on but it's still leaking. Could this be a fracture in the pipe??
