Why so many scrapped fronteras.

Postby 1packabs on Wed Jun 08, 2016 9:12 pm

When you look on eBay for frontera parts there is so many poor fronteras being scrapped. Broken etc
Why is this?
Are they now so worthless there being scrapped because the ash tray is full?
I brought my v6 for £800 and to be honest it was destined for the scrapper.
But I've decided to bring mine back to life for years more service.
Some of the ones being junked look in better Nick than mine.
It's really sad.
I've managed to save one from the junk pile.
But for the rest it brings tears to my eyes because soon they will all be gone. Just like the Vauxhall cavalier.

Its a sad fact but many are worth more in bits than in 1 piece and will happliy chop it rather than try and keep it going. Its not just Fronteras, over the years peeps have broken all sorts that have since gone up in value, I dread to think how many salvagable Triumph Spitfires, GT6, Herald and Vitesses I choped for spares back in the 80's and early 90's, wouldn't dream of it today
Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one :-(

I still have a cavalier :) needs a new windscreen and it'll probably blitz another mot. Just can't afford the running costs of another car (namely the £225 tax a year) :( so it'll sit on the drive until it either dissolves or I can afford to run it

Breaking them fully will only help to keep the ones still alive to keep going, what pains me is the ones that scrap merchants just take the wheels, batterys and cats and weigh in the rest...and so many sought after parts get binned. Thankfully poor scrap prices have made this practise less viable at the moment.

Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again...
She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body...
Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer!
