fuel injection pump

Postby Pete Stewart on Sun Apr 17, 2016 3:25 pm

Hi All

I've been told (by an autospark) that my fuel injection pump has gone & that's why my engine management light is on. The car does not start from cold although I can start it when I spray 'Easy Start' into the air filter and after I drive it for a few miles it will start from warm ?

Would anyone know where I could obtain a recondition pump or if any cracked piped might cause be the problem

Are there any other easy checks that I could make before spending the sum to replace the pump ?

Frontera 2001 2.2 DTI (100,000 miles clocked)

thanks

Pete

Have the bleed off pipes from the injectors been replaced? Sounds more like you have a fuel drain back problem

Don't forget you MUST bleed the fuel system after doing so and BEFORE you attempt to start the car.

Many Thanks Hipo & Stretch, replacing the leak pipes seemed to have worked

Once the pipes (which were corroded & pitted) were replaced it fired up 1st time yesterday

It didn't start quite as smoothly this morning but will take it from here

Not sure how much longer can keep the Fonty running as there is an unbelievable amount of rusting on the tank brackets & thereabouts

Thanks again for your correct suggestions

cheers
