I have been rebuilding this engine and I am aiming for 150BHP better than factory in performance and looks
polishing the engine parts seems to take soooo long

Drinking and cars don't mix
You seem to order parts for car and engine that you might not have ordered when soba

So your not doing a red top conversion
So you can have a 16 valve..

Would there be any issue fitting the offset sump on a red top?

If you just changed the head would you need to change the crank case and sump

no staying with 8 valve top but I will port the head and air intake so more air and fuel can get in
plus due to insurance and reliability as I do 20000 miles a year minimum
and I want to keep my car as original as if it was from factory just improve things you wont really notice

A well polished and ported 8v will be better at lower engine speeds than the 16v, which for off roading is ideal as the revs are often less. Road use the 16 valve would be better, but tbh the 2.0 with some tweaks and cleaned up is still plenty good enough.
