Failed MOT on emissions...everything off the scale!

Postby RockingDad on Fri Jan 15, 2016 3:49 pm

Afternoon,

Our 99' Transglobe sport has just failed the MOT on emissions, never had an issue with this before. Tester said he tried slow revs, fast revs, all sorts but everything was just too high. Its with the garage at the moment. Has anyone had a similar situation and a possible cause? possible split/broken pipe?

Cheers

Going to have to get some live data done and make sure everything is working as it should be,do this before wasting loads of money changing items that may be ok.

Good service including fuel, air and oil filters. Might pay you to replace the Cat and Lambda sensor. These are about the only things that majorly affect things. Without looking at the fail sheet it is difficult to see.

Check the hose isnt split between the MAF and the throttle body...these are prone to cracking/splitting. Finding good replacements is hard, but a temporary fix can be effective using self amalgamating tape...

Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again...
She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body...
Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer!
