Nice 3.2

Postby westo123 on Wed Sep 23, 2015 6:37 pm

I went to see this one today, very clean and tidy throughout, no rust or scratches.
What do people think would be a fair price?
Also I assume no-one on here is bidding.

hmm, I'm not 100% on the particular engine type.. advert suggests that is the Isuzu engine and not the VX,,, not that it makes so much difference though supposidly the Isuzo engines are more sort after.. though for me I would have preferred one that was 2002 or later with the fly by wire setup.

Nice, it has ABS.. though I would prefer aircon over the sun roof..

Check that all the indicator lights work and go out after engine/ignition test ( MIL, ABS etc ). Maybe worth to see if the cam belt has been done on any of the services..

Price wise, for me 550-650 maybe 700 would be about my limit for it.
I bought a clean v6 (2002 plate) 2 years ago for £995

Really that cheap hmmm. I quite like having the Isuzu engine. It does have aircon as well as the sun roof. Lights all work and the cam belt was done at 95k. I am surprised, but thanks.

The 3.2 in the Frontera is the 6VD1W DOHC Isuzu engine. Fitted in later Troopers/Bighorns. The earlier Isuzu 3.2 6VD1 SOHC was its predecessor fitted in the Mk.II Troopers/Bighorns.

From the outside they look identical apart from the inlet manifold.

The Vauxhall V6 was never fitted in the Frontera from factory.

They are all interference engines, though people have been lucky and got away with it on the 6VD1's as I think the interference is marginal. I think they class it that way to be safe.

I will add that if it is as good as the advert says then I would be very interested, but between me and the g/f we already own 4 trucks.

Exhaust centre section is now dirt cheap...... I got one last month for 29.00 and 11.00 delivery. The rear over axle pipe was 23.50 and I got that too. It's wasn't a one off......just check eBay.
As for price I would say 800.00 max if it's as good as you say. Mine is a year older, no rust and had 64,000 miles when I got it 3 years ago for 750.00 with 9 months mot and 6 months tax.
No real probs engine wise though some use a lot of oil with no detriment whatsoever. Some have been known to crack the cylinder head on the passenger side. A rusty plug on the rearmost cylinder nearest the bulkhead is a clue. They can be a bit clicks and tappety at tick over, most people just ignore it as its a fairly big job to change the shims.......if you can even get them. Good luck, if you get one you'll enjoy it.

I have stopped bidding as he wants £1495 minimum for it!

if it was a 2004 for that money then he may of had a chance had he found the right person.

That's a dealer forecourt price. for a 2004 spec Limited..!

For what he is selling:
Franchise Dealer : 1'335
Independent : 950
Private (good) : 580
Private (Poor) : 295

I know if you see a nice one, then it's all about negotiation and if its a car for yourself then you can pay a bit more if you have it just to get a nice one. I bought my DTi expecting to have to put a fuel pump in it at around a £1500 cost, but the car was clean, FSH with VX and overall worth it as I was going to keep it for me. Luckily the fuel pump was fine so it was a great buy at the time.

Nah he's still got it, been trying to swop for my Disco, which I probably would in a flash, but he wants the 7 seats.
