Fuel tank carrier

Postby blueheather on Wed Jan 07, 2015 4:20 pm

Can anyone tell me if a Isuzu trooper fuel tank support/guard will fit a 1998 frontera A swb? My fuel tank fell off in the road :o & having trouble finding a carrier/support.

They probably could with modification but essentially no. Trooper one doesn't have provision for the Frontera tank straps. You would need. Personally I would get a good second hand one.

There are differences between the A series Frontera guard and the Mark 2 Trooper guards. On the Frontera flavour the brackets bolt up under the chassis, whereas the Trooper flavour one side bolts under under the chassis with the other side bolting onto the side of the chassis. Apart from the brackets being different, the shape of the tank recess looks similar but I couldn't say for sure if the recess is an exact match.
Wasn't there somebody on here fabricating replacement tank guards for the A series. If still not being made, maybe there are pictures in the archives that could show examples.

Try Gregster, Darren, he may have some or be able to pattern one up.
