The Vulcan was back in the air yesterday the first time for quite a while :(

The Main Undercarriage had to be removed and rebuilt. The aircraft also had other modifications done. The Vulcan's weight had not been on its main wheels for nearly 9 months.

Amazing achievement to get such a Technical Beast back in the air.

It's looking good for the Summer airshow season now :D - The Vulcan over Kemble - Drift

yeah your spot-on there bigdazz, it was a nuke bomber, there was a fleet of them flying 24 hours a day during the cold war era :( :(

When the nuclear submarines came along it quickly made them obsolete. They only saw action during the Falklands Campaign - thank goodness

dead right the ' Technical Achievement ' of Concorde is still amazing even today. To think that it had some Digital Technology in it, when it was put together in the early 1970 seventies, it was so ahead of it's game ...

It's one of those things that the more you learn about it - the more amazing it becomes

It was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as well.
The first two are short videos.

Very nice thanks for that westo123,

The Festival of Speed is one of those things I haven't done yet, but I would very much like to.

I'm thinking of maybe going to the Revival - as again I haven't done that one :( :(

The fly over at Waddington was awesome. He did a simulated bombing run with the bomb doors open and several passes and then power pull ups. Absolutely awesome and just as I remember them flying when I was a kid.

My little boy and wife had nipped to the loo and it shook the whole toilet block!!

An awesome piece of kit!

All we need now is someone to rescue a concorde and british (with a bit of french) engineering can be displayed again.

Cheers

that would be so cool.

Again remember as a kid one flying over us on takeoff from heathrow. Shook the whole car!!!

One of those things I always wished I'd been able to take a flight on.

The programme on channel 4 about it was very sad.

I know there are some people on the Forum who follow the only flying example of a Vulcan in existence 'XH558', well it looked like it was going to be grounded because of a lack of funds :| :(. The Vulcan Trust needed 400k by the end of October for essential repairs :x It seemed a tough task to achieve earlier in the month, but a lot of money has flowed in during the last week  - such that 'it might be alright on the night'.....

For anybody who is interested more information can be found - Just Here
