It's the 2.8 Rob, first 2.8 I've ever owned. Will keep it for a couple of months while I'm sorting a few bits on it then will move it on. I'm really after a SWB 3.2V6 B Series but this was low mileage and not a huge some of money so thought it was worth a punt as a stop gap.

Watched the unknown wheel arch quick release feature work while travelling up the A14. Seems there is only two mounting holes left on the wing the others have disolved.

Small loss of boost and power while going up Granham Hill just outside of Malborough yesterday in the pouring rain.
Twas going well, powering well all the way to the tight bend where I'm normally standing on the brakes to slow down when the boost went from .6 bar to -1 bar with the associated loss of power!
Limped the truck to the top of the hill and onto the next village and a good place to stop for a looksee, couldn't see much and the turbo still turned by hand, with all the fluids still in the truck I started it up and while not great there was some boost so carried on to make the meeting at Yeovilton.
Later on I got the chance for a better look and it seems to have fed part of the air-filter through the turbo which would go a long way to explaining the loss of boost and power.
Now... There was a reasonable amount of water in the filter box (about a cup full), the truck had been through some puddles while out laning on the Sat but nothing deep enough to get anywhere near the filter box or the top of the snorkel. With the amount of rain coming down at the time It's possible that it dragged some in but I've never known it do it before or one of the numpties operating a jetwash at the local polish run carwash got a bit carried away on Sunday when I took it in to get the best part of Oxfordshire removed from it and gave it more squirt than needed...
Removed the filter remains out of the airbox, dried it up and checked the induction side turbo fan and found some minor mullering on the blades so that's probably on the way out now due to inbalance. See how long it lasts!
Boost was back to normal on the way home and it pulled okay, and fitted a new filter as soon as I got home. The beast lives on!
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Done the deal on the basis for the next long overdue Redneck project.... This is gonna be different, and coming to King-of-the-Ring in the future.... Think LWB, think modified steering, think weight saving, lowered suspension, think rear wheel drive with locked rear and hydro handbrake, think mad paint, and a V6 with not much silencing! Yep you got it....Fronty4x4spares with a load of Gregster-styley Redneck engineering is going DRIFTING!!!! (have probably 50 tyres to kill, and 10 rear bumpers!) This should be different! Gonna build me a Drift Car!!!!
