i had got my frontera up an axle stands today with the front driver side wheel off i was checking the bolt around the gearbox after changing the clutch i thought why iam under the car i will check the bolts on the prop i put the spanners on the first bolt gave them a good hard pull and the car slipped forward about an inch on the axle stands ive never moved so fast to get from under the car
i thought fook that i put the wheel back in and came in had a stiff drink and then another
lesson to be learnt even on axle stands your car can still slip be careful

Frooze me gonads off trying to fix the bloody thing. Nearly got there before I gave in to the cold wind.
Whilst I had the rad and intercooler out, I decided to sort out the surfice rust on the chassis parts that I could reach.
Done that yesterday by scrapping and wire brushing, then repeated coats of gel before giving it a coat of Hammerite black paint which is also supposed to attack any rust.
Then today, finished off replacing power steering pipes and steering box, put new alternator and steering pump belts and reassembled the radiator fixings. Only the front and horn brackets to put back on. Put in the new transmission fluid for the power steering and anti-freeze mix coolant and hope it starts.
Bit of a shame really because we have got a covering of snow, apparently with more to follow overnight.

I lost a clear headlight cover at Bala off road ( so lashed the other  ) and unfroze mine and Andysd1's manual hubs, they where stuck locked and in blocks of ice after descending the Wayfarer
Thought we might have to pee on them to warm them up but deicer and pliers sorted it

I was outside in the snow wiring up my work lamp, and fabracating a switch plate for future Spots, Strobes and rear lamp. Dam it was cold. Just goes to show how many of us will go out in the coldest of weathers to be with our loved ones and leave the missus indoors, was cold but peacefull.

OK, so by the standards of folks on here it's not exactly technically challenging, but bearing in mind I have never ever done anything mechanical in my life, yesterday I replaced the radiator in my car all by myself (with help and pointers from AndySD1)

I might even have a go at servicing it next :D
