It is rumored that there are captive nuts by the side windows in the boot somewhere.
People have put D rings on them and tied the wheel to the inside Range Rover style. What happens, happens. What doesn't happen is not meant to

just one more thing to consider, how do you open the drop down, as you may not have noticed the handel is all most in the middel, where on the swing doors its on the edge flying solo, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Im also in the process of rebuilding a vaux 2l 16v twin cam engine to go in it, should be good for 170bhp , have anyone done this before ??, id be interested to hear your thoughts.

Im in Wadebridge. I will post pics & info as i do the conversions. I have cheap spares for a M reg lwb 2.4 in case anyboby needs parts, most are available. Colin
I did considder putting a isuzu 2.8 in it as i done this with me good ladys frontie 2 years ago but this one has been by the sea for far too long so wasn't worth the time or money.
Consider myself & my good lady in for your record attempt, that'l be another 2 fronties & poss 3 if i get another lwb. If nearer the date you want big publisity im the head of the LINE-X UK advertising comittee & we regulary advertise in the 4x4 mags, im sure i can get them to do a wright up on it, maybe when the date is confirmed. Whats LINE-X ? Visit my website http://www.linexcornwall.co.uk to find out.
Theres alot more to turning a 2.0 ltr Sport into a Pick Up then you would expect.
I'm in the process of making a pure offroader out of a sport I've got sitting around. Sounds easy, till you get it stripped right down to bare metel, then you will see just what problems there is regarding the metel work, angles, deviations, holes, the list goes on. Have a look here : .PROJECT FUDDY MUCKER "II" I have not done a write up this week, I have progressed quite a lot over the past few days. Good luck.
Welcome to FOG Colin Im familiar with your linings and can confirm that its tough! I spent many years in South Africa where every second vehicle is a "bakkie" (pick up). Having the loadbed done helped keep the rust at bay as well as helping reduce dents and scuffs from loading. Martin
Im a bit spoilt as weve got a workshop within our metal fabrication business which is also the home of LINE-X Cornwall
Seriously fuddy mucker i wouldnt bother playing around with checkerplate for the cargo bay, im planning to LINE-X mine which if you do the surface (prep n prime) most UK dealers would do for around 1995 2.8 lwb
