HELP - Exhaust system

Postby mudmonster on Tue Jan 15, 2008 3:36 pm

Hi folks,

As mentioned in my ''Hi'' posting, I'm in the process of getting my frontera back on the road and I seem to have hit a major stumbling block in getting 2 replacement parts for the exhaust system...

It seems that because the model I've got is the SWB, Opel built, new shape for 98 onwards that the 2 parts I need, because of their modifications, are MAIN DEALER PARTS ONLY.... (This I was informed by the parts department at my local main dealer, whom I went to after visiting numerous exhaust dealers and breakers yards to find the ''correct'' parts they had were in fact for the long wheel base.....

And one of said parts (tail pipe) is on 6 MONTHS back order at Vauxhall !!!!

Anyways I waffle (mainly as this search has sent what little hair I haven't pulled out grey and I'm in desperate need to get back on and off the road)
the parts I'm in search of are:

TAIL PIPE - Vauxhall part number V0097165238
MUFFLER - Vauxhall part number V0097165240

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone or somewhere that I may be able to obtain these illusive items from..... even if it be a case of used items that would at least get me back on the road whilst the new bits come into stock ??

Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated

Wayne

ps. Yes I'm a Muppet.... should have mentioned again rather than just doing so on the other post... the parts are for a

December 1998, SWB, 2198cc, Petrol, Frontera Sport ........

Not sure what model you have, but this bloke has most exhausts in stock. Have found them to be friendly and helpful.

Hi mate, if you give me the engine type and year, i know its a 2.2 SWB. but diesel or petrol? I know a good few online places that do exhausts and if your handy with a spanner (sometimes a hammer helps) then they deliver for only a couple of quid more.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

KJA, Sir-Doris,

Many thanks for getting back to me ...... The 2 parts are off the vehicle at the moment - Muffler removed by me and the tailpipe is probably still in a road side ditch near Manchester Airport....

As mentioned in my hastily amended after reading your various ones, post, its a December 98, petrol model and with most of the ebay and internet exhaust dealers I've tried so far, the parts they bring up seem to be for the Long Wheel base version....... but I will still try which ever links you can point me in....

I do have in addition to the part numbers provided by Vauxhall a diagram of the system that I can fax or post copies of if of any help in identifying the correct parts ??

Hi mate, bad news Im afraid. Just had a look at all my links for online exhausts and yours isnt on any of them. Sorry I cant be of any more use there. Although I heard a rumour somewhere that Walker exhausts are adding a couple of new frontera ones to their lineup. maybe yours is one of them. Try giving contacting walker their website is http://www.walkerexhaust.com
