Postby Davey on Fri Jan 11, 2008 9:31 am

My mate decided to play in a nice soft field, with road tyres, by himself, at night.... tot

The car is stuck up to its floor pan in mud.. I dont suppose theres anyone in the local area who fancies helping him out for a few quid? I would but I dont have my Fronty any more

I should'nt laugh, been there, done that, still get the "P" taken out of me.
(no doubt someone will mention it, so I though I would get in first.   )

Had he got permission to use the field ? If like me he had'nt then the land owner WON'T BE VERY HAPPY.
:? :? :? :? :? :?

Unfortunately I would love to recover him but he's just a bit to far away.

Tell him to go and knock on the nearest farm to where he is stuck. Plead nicely with the farmer, slip him a crispy pound note and he'll be pulled out in a jiffy.

I went out to have a look at about 6:30.. It was still stuck.. I had to shoot so I lent him my tow strap (the one that saved me from the ford) and from what I can gather they used the tow strap, a chain and a hand winch to get the two cars out!

Reading his plight on the hilux site suggests that his penance (from his good lady) for his actions will have already been served.

Bloody hell.

Lucky some farmer didn't shoot him or drive over his truck with a tractor!

"there was no sign saying no entry"

It doesn't need a sign to be private property!!!

Some people just don't think before bombing it off in to some field. No wonder farmers hate 4wds.

It was a nice looking wagon though..

It maybe a flood plain but it has probably got grazing rights by a local farmer or still be owned by said farmer so it's not the best of ideas to go driving around Fields at night with out asking first
I say this after spending about 2 hours of my day at work pulling 4 yes 4 vehicles out of a field that my boss owns
1st was a disco that when for a night drive with road tyres and got stuck, so his mate in a Mondeo thought he would pull him out
Then this morning a rav4 with road tyres thought he could get them both out & you have guessed it he got a little bogged down,
so they then got the RAC out ---- yes he got stuck too
So enter me with this
Image
Got them all out no problems
RAC man gave me £10 for my time
Rav4 driver gave me £5 for my time
mondeo driver said Thank-you very much
F****** DISCO driver pinched my recovery strap & said gate should have been chained up if he was not meant to be in there
If i see him again there maybe a scrap disco for sale
I will have to get a new strap for next Sunday now :(

It doesnt matter, if your caught driving on it without permmision you get a section s59 first is a fine and warning second time your car is crushed.

You can only drive on legal rights of way.

You need to do your home work to find them, and thay are not muddy play sites, treat them with respect or we WILL loose them.

We have been with plenty on road tyres and they have done very well even in the snow.. its just knowing the limitations it gives you, and knowing your truck and assessing the environment your in.
